Superstar Quarterback Will Keynote Southeast Building Conference.
Despite the dramatic number of housing starts in 2003, many homebuilders are wrestling with record-level competition and razor-thin profits.
So it is fitting that the theme for this year’s 26th annual Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) is "The Game Plan for Success."
Sponsored by the Florida Home Builders Association, SEBC will be held August 5–7, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The event will feature a keynote address by four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and TV personality Terry Bradshaw.
Bradshaw will highlight the opening ceremonies on August 6 with his "Why Not Your Best" address.
This year’s SEBC show is expected to be the largest yet, with 800 exhibitors and over 12,000 attendees expected. The advance registration fee for the main program is $245. There is a discounted rate ($210) for multiple members from the same firm. One-day registrations are $165 per delegate. All prices increase after June 30. SEBC also offers—at an extra cost—a variety of specialized programs, including those leading to professional designations. These programs include the Superintendent Training program leading to the nationally-recognized Residential Construction Superintendent (RCS) designation; the three-course Certified Aging in Place Specialist program leading to the CAPS designation; and the IRM I course leading to the MIRM designation.
There are also special courses for the designations of Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), Certified Graduate Associate, Graduate Master Builder, and Certified Sales Professional. FHBA also presents Spokesperson Training courses at SEBC for industry leaders ($260 per participant for a day-long program).
Two of the building industry’s most prestigious awards programs—the Excel Awards for sales and marketing achievement, and the Aurora Awards for design excellence—will also be given at the show. The Excel Awards will be presented on August 6 at a 5:30 p.m. reception ($40 per person charge), with the Aurora Awards Dinner/Spectacular set for August 7 at 7 p.m. ($85 per person).
The FHBA also holds its Summer Builders Conference in conjunction with the SEBC. FHBA Committee meetings will be held August 5–7, with the Board of Directors meeting set for Sunday morning, August 8. The Rosen Centre will serve as the SEBC headquarters hotel, with the Peabody also offered for delegate accommodations.
