How to Enter

The entry process for the 2008 IHTAs has now closed.

Please consult the eligibility requirements and required information below prior to beginning the online entry process to be sure that you provide all of the information needed to consider your product for the Innovative Housing Technology Awards.

Once you have gathered the below information, please submit your information via the online forms below.


Supplier & Integrator Eligibility

  • Product must have been introduced to the market (shipping) between January 1, 2007 and June 25, 2008
  • Entries must be submitted on or before April 25, 2008
  • The same product cannot be entered in more than one category
  • A separate entry form must be completed for each entry. All entry forms must have all questions completed and submitted in order to be evaluated
  • All entrants must be available for monitored telephone interviews with judges, if requested
  • Entry fees- For Suppliers: $595/first entry, $295/each additional entry; For Integrators: $95 per entry

Builder Eligibility

  • Projects must have been completed between January 1, 2007 and June 25, 2008
  • Entries must be submitted on or before April 25, 2008
  • A separate entry form must be completed for each entry. All entry forms must be completed in their entirety in order for the entry to be evaluated
  • All entrants must be available for monitored telephone interviews with the judges, if requested
  • Entry Fees- For Builders: $25 per entry

How to Enter

Gather the information outlined below (where applicable) and submit via the online entry form below.

  • Electronic file of company logo (300 dpi, tif or eps)
  • Electronic files of two product (or project) photos for each entry (300 dpi, tif or eps)
  • Product specification sheet, if available
  • URL/web link to more information about nominated product
  • MSRP of product
  • Date product ships (must be between January 1, 2007 and June 25, 2008)
  • Entry fee (You may submit a credit card during the online entry process or you may send a check. Details available on the entry form)
  • 40-word promotional description of your entry to be used in print and online

For supplier entries:

  • Please provide a 500-word (maximum) essay on your product, describing its attributes, design and functionality
  • Please describe the three most important features of this product. What sets this product apart from other products in this category?
  • Please describe the benefits the product provides to the builder

For home technology integrator entries:

  • Please provide a 500-word (maximum) essay that describes, and to the greatest degree possible, quantifies, the attributes of excellence your company exhibits in its work with homebuilders.

For homebuilder entries:

  • Please provide a 500-word (maximum) essay on the implementation of your project. Essay should include a complete outline of the scope of the project as well as the objectives, results and overall success.
  • Builder IT Solution Entries should detail 1) Cost and labor savings realized/anticipated, 2) Quality improvements realized/anticipated, 3) Customer Satisfaction improvements realized/anticipated, and 4) Overall financial effects - revenues, costs, profits.

Judging Process

The judging panel will consist of industry editors/analysts, builders and academics. Care will be given to create a representative mix of product/service experience, large and small company and geographic representation. The total number of judges will be five.

Selection of winners will be done by expert judging panels immediately following the deadline and will be based upon the criteria specified in the entry process. Announcement of the winners will take place during a special reception in San Francisco during PCBC on Wednesday, June 25, 2008. Winners will include best overall products for the IT and home technology categories.

In order to avoid any panel tampering or solicitation, judge names will be kept confidential until show time. Judges are instructed not to contact program participants during the course of the judging process. If its necessary for judges to interview entrants, the conversations will be monitored.
