Ad Hoc Electronics is developing its new Illumra product line, which uses self-powered wireless controls to reduce the amount of time and materials needed to install energy management systems in green buildings.
The Illumra products, based on EnOcean technology, will include wireless light switches, temperature sensors, occupancy sensors and light sensors powered by solar or mechanical energy sources.
Because EnOcean-based transmitters don't use batteries, the system offers maintenance-free, long-term operation.
Illumra products do not require wiring from the transmitter to the controlled device, allowing the switches and sensors to be installed anywhere.
Wireless light switches and sensors mount directly to walls or other surfaces and can be relocated.
The Illumra wireless light switch uses a small micro-generator to convert each switch press into a small amount of electricity that powers a built-in transmitter.
